Un tâmplar pe care l-am angajat să mă ajute la reparaţia unui grajd vechi tocmai termină prima zi de muncă grea. Fierăstrăul electric s-a stricat şi l-a făcut să piardă o oră de muncă, după care camionul lui vechi nu a mai vrut să pornească.
I-am propus să-l conduc acasă şi pe drum a fost foarte tăcut. Dar, de îndată ce-am ajuns, mă invită să-i cunosc familia. Când ne îndreptam către uşă, a privit pentru un moment un mic copăcel din faţa casei, atingându-i vârfurile ramurilor cu ambele mâini.
Când s-a deschis uşa, s-a petrecut o transformare uimitoare. Faţa lui morocănoasă era plină de zâmbete. Şi-a îmbrăţişat copiii şi şi-a sărutat soţia. După aceea m-a acompania la maşină.
Când am trecut pe lângă copăcel, din curiozitate, l-am întrebat de ce a atins ramurile înainte de a intra în casă. „Oh, este copacul meu de probleme”, răspunse.
“Ştiu că nu pot evita problemele la muncă, dar un lucru e sigur: problemele nu sunt pentru acasă, nu trebuie să o preocupe pe soţia mea şi nici pe copii. Aşa că pur şi simplu le atârn în copac în fiecare seară când ajung acasă şi le reiau dimineaţa când plec iar la muncă.”
“Ce e interesant”, spuse surâzând, “că dimineaţa nu mai sunt atât de multe cum îmi amintesc că am lăsat în copac cu o seară mai înainte.”
